Brent - Annual Canvassing process 2020 now Underway


I have been informed that the annual canvass is now underway, with every property in the borough being contacted to confirm that the details held on the electoral register are correct.

The canvassing process has changed this year in response to new legislation. The reformed canvass process incorporates a ‘data matching step’ in which registered electors are compared against national datasets, such as Department for Work and Pensions information, and local information such as Council Tax lists to see if they match. If the results show that the elector(s) in a property matches the national or local dataset, then Councils can canvass that property through a streamlined canvass process (Route 1) where a response is only required if there is a change to report.
