Additional licensing laws for houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO) are set to be extended for further five years . Brent has agreed this to improve housing standard in the private rented section and protect tenants being exploited.
Brent Cabinet also given go ahead on selective licensing which would require landlords to licence rental properties irrespective of their size. Barn hill along with Welsh Harp has been included in the scheme.
Brent will start receiving application from 1 December 2019. Cost has gone up for new application which has been set £840. those who renew their application before Feb 2020 will pay only £740.
