I have just received this message from A/ Superintendent James Rawlinson:
I am pleased to inform you that overnight a male has been arrested for the tragic murders of Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry in Fryent Country Park. The investigating team arrested him and wanted to ensure the family were informed before a wider message was sent out. The investigation continues but clearly this is a significant development and our specialist team continues to provide support to the family.
The press release below can be shared and contains an overview of the facts. This investigation absolutely remains a priority for us and if there are further developments in the case in terms of the arrest then I will let you know as soon as I can. We will continue locally to provide increased police presence in Fryent and surrounding open spaces and will support the ongoing investigation in any way we can.
