Quick update on Kingsbury tube noise

Please find attached a letter which should have gone out today to the residents around the Kingsbury curve. It’s about the completion of the works which we started on the tracks just before lockdown, but which were not completed – this will be done over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, it may well involve some noisy works overnight. There is a chance that this work might improve the noise situation generally but this isn’t definite or guaranteed so we’ve not said this to residents as we don’t want to give false hope.

 

As you know, we’ve recently taken further noise readings from the area and are looking at these as well as looking at ways to improve the on-train lubrication system, which we hope may improve the noise, so things are being done and I’ll keep you posted.

Completion of track works between Wembley Park and Kingsbury – Jubilee line

You may recall that, prior to the coronavirus lockdown, we planned track renewal works along the Jubilee line tracks between Wembley Park and Kingsbury. On 23 March, in line with government guidance, all non-safety critical works were brought to a ‘safe stop’. We now need to complete these works and plan to do so from 1 September.

How our works may affect you

From 1 to 3 September, overnight works will take place in order to set up the site and we will also be working on site during the daytime on Saturday 12 September. We will then need to undertake works overnight beginning from Monday 14 September, which will take place from Monday to Thursday evenings until 15 October.

Every effort will be made to keep any noise to a minimum, including sound barriers and other mitigations. However, you may notice some noise overnight during the works. We are aware that residents in this area are experiencing some issues with noise from the Jubilee line during operational hours and are sorry for any furhter inconvenience this may cause.
