Roads Repair Programme for Barn hill Area

Improvement programme for the following roads will start from

14 September

in Barnhill ward.

  Wentworth Hill

Brampton Grove,

Barn Way( Corringham Way to West Hill)

Barnhill

Eversley road  with following details:

The first four are within a conservation area and in response to our discussions it was agreed these will be omitted from the planned works programme. Wentworth Hill falls outside the conservation and work has been programmed to commence from 14th September. Letters have already been distributed to this effect.

With regards to the four roads within the conservation area we have carried out inspections for reactive maintenance works. The programme of reactive maintenance will only entail the repair of defects on footways and kerbs which exceed the normal investigation levels. For instance, a footway trip will only be repaired if it is above 20mm; slabs which are only cracked (and have no trip) will not be considered for repair. Where protruding tree roots mean a paving slab cannot laid flat there may still be a need to use asphalt to remove the defect. You will be aware this method of repair has already been used within the conservation roads.

As you all know, Barnhill is a conservation area which has its own rules and regulations. For example, an ordinary householder cannot even make a small change unless it is a replica copy of the original.

You might have had noticed that besides minor touch up council is bent on to use Asphalt which totally unacceptable to peoples who live in conservation areas. Barnhill Resident has put up a strong objection to it but the council is not accepting their views.
