Scam

A Friend send me this which I am sharing with you. Please be careful.

Dear All,

Please be very careful not to give out any of your personal details if you are telephoned about the following,

BT

Scammers are ringing your landline to say that your phone and email are going to be cut off for various reasons.

These are very professional automated calls and they then ask you to press to speak to a person.

These call are made to obtain your bank details in order to steal money from your bank account and by pressing to speak to a person you may also be put through to a premium rate phone number that can charge 90p or more per minute.

Amazon Prime

Scammers ring your landline to say they can cancel your Amazon Prime account and refund you your initial fee of £79.95 and ask you to check your online bank account to see if it has been credited to you. They then tell you that they have mistakenly credited £7,999 to your account and they need your bank details to get their money back. Once you give them this they will then empty all the money in your account and move on.

How to keep yourself safe from these awful people,

Do not engage in conversation with them as they are trained to extract information.

Put the phone down straight away.

If you want to ring your bank use your mobile if you have one.

If you find that they keep ringing you follow the golden rule of not speaking to them - hang up and if you do this then they will

stop phoning you.
