TfL has been working with local residents to address noise complaints from the ‘Kingsbury Curve' between Kingsbury and Wembley Park stations.
New on-train lubricators are being explored, which are known to reduce friction between wheels and track, particularly around curves preventing high-pitched noise. Testing is now underway, and the results are being reviewed. The lubricators will be installed on a first train over the coming weeks and further trials will be carried out to understand how effective they are. If successful, these will be installed on the entire fleet. We are also looking into fitting lubricators to the track in this area which will also help with reducing noise.Although residential noise monitoring is currently suspended as a result of the government’s coronavirus restrictions, we hope that this will be restarted following the start of this programme.
